Creating a Root Chakra Routine

The root chakra is located at the base of the spine. When this chakra is balanced, we feel grounded, secure, and stable in our lives. Establishing routines that nourish the root chakra is essential for keeping our energy centered and our feet firmly planted on the earth.

Here are some simple ways to create a root chakra balancing routine:

  • Set the tone for your day with a morning ritual. This might include meditation, journaling, yoga, taking a walk, or sipping on your favorite warm beverage.

  • Eat grounding foods. Root vegetables like potatoes, carrots, beets, onions and garlic fortify the root chakra. As does protein like eggs, chicken, red meat, beans and tofu. And of course, throw the color red in there with strawberries, apples, raspberries, pomegranate…you get it.

  • Limit stimulating substances like caffeine, sugar or alcohol which can agitate your body.

  • Engage in gentle exercise like yoga, tai chi or walking which are grounding. Practices that build lower body strength like squats or lunges are excellent too.

  • Surround yourself with the color red. Wear it, use red candles, display red flowers, or eat red foods.

  • Declutter your home environment. Clutter can create anxiety. Keep your living space tidy and minimal which encourages groundedness.

  • Listen to stabilizing root chakra music. Music apps have a lot of mindful and spiritual music to help guide you.

  • Establish set sleeping and waking times. Having a consistent sleep routine helps maintain circadian rhythms which are stabilizing.

  • Prioritize self-care. Don't run yourself ragged. Make time to slow down and nurture yourself daily.

Developing just a few of these root chakra habits can help establish stability and serenity in your life. Your roots will grow deeper day by day!
