Orange You Glowing? How to Balance Your Sacral Chakra

The sacral chakra, located just below the navel, is the center of creativity, emotions, pleasure, and sexuality. When out of balance, you may experience issues like emotional instability, or lack of excitement and passion. By choosing the right sacral chakra foods, flowers, and exercises you can get your energy flowing freely again!

Foods that have an innate affinity with the sacral chakra include oranges, carrot juice, pumpkin, and sweet potatoes. Eating more orange and yellow foods helps energize and regulate this vital energy center. Oranges, like all citrus fruits, provide high vitamin C while the beta carotene in carrots and sweet potatoes nourishes the sacral region. Pumpkin purées and baked pumpkin seeds make tasty sacral healing treats!

Certain brightly colored flowers also resonate beautifully with the sacral chakra. Try decorating your home or office with fresh cut flowers like geraniums, orange roses, hibiscus, or marigolds. You’ll notice your creativity and happiness levels rising when surrounded by their sunny hues and uplifting scent.

On a physical level, this chakra gets blocked from too much sitting and requires regular movement to stay vibrant. Practice hip opening yoga poses like Bound Angle pose (Baddha Konasana), Wide Legged Forward Fold (Prasarita Padottanasana) or Half Frog pose (Ardha Bhekasana). These poses release stuck energy around the sacral region. As you begin to feel more space in your hips and pelvis, your emotional blocks will dissolve too!

So drink that fresh carrot juice, decorate with sacral-friendly flowers, and get those hips open as needed. I hope you’ll soon be glowing orange with a newly balanced sacral chakra!
